The Mocha Moms of Contra Costa County - West welcomes members from Crockett, Rodeo, Hercules, Pinole, El Sobrante, San Pablo, Richmond, El Cerrito, Kensington, Albany & Berkeley. While our chapter is West Contra Costa County we have members that are from other areas of Contra Costa County as well i.e. Lafayette, Orinda, Moraga, Martinez and Pleasant Hill. We even have members in Fairfield and Oakland!
An Introduction
Founded in August 2004, the West Contra Costa Mocha Moms group (WCCMM) supports a diverse group of families with like values. WCCMM supports the seven pillars of the Mocha Moms platform: Non-Exclusivity, Community Activism, Support for Work-at-Home mothers, Non-partisanship, Strong Commitment to Marriage, Self-Care, and the Education of our Children. Our goal is to help moms better care for themselves, their families, and each other. We do this though our Babysitting Cooperative, "Moms Only" Outings, Support Groups, Play Groups and Family Events.
WCCMM is also open to mothers who have chosen to work outside the home and to all mothers who are raising multi-cultural children and children of color. We believe this expansion of the traditional Mocha Moms structure provides additional support for mothers who share our philosophy but who are also faced with the extra challenge of balancing a work life outside the home. We believe that mothers who are raising multi-cultural children and children of color are also part of the sisterhood we have formed.
Mocha Moms serves as an advocate for multi-cultural mothers and encourages the spirit of community activism within its membership. Mocha Moms, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Mocha Moms, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, sex, gender, socio-economic level, education, or religion. Anyone who supports the purpose of Mocha Moms, Inc. is welcome to join.
Mocha Moms in 2012
Happy New Year! Welcome to a new year in Mochaland. On behalf of the Contra Costa County - West Mocha Moms, Inc. Executive Board, we are honored and thrilled to be serving another year as your chapter leaders. Last year was an exciting year for our chapter. We had several Mochas from our chapter attend the national conference in Las Vegas and our membership has continued to grow as we get the word out to more and more moms looking for support.
This year we will still welcome prospective members to visit our chapter for two events. The choices will be the Friday Support Circle, the fourth Saturday Playgroup and/or Mom's Nite Out. All other events will now be Members Only. This was a decision that was made by our Chapter Executive Board and we had some input from our Regional Coordinator as well.
So we invite you, if you have already joined us for two events and would love to be an active part of our chapter, to go to the Membership page to sign up. Please Forward a copy of your emailed confirmation to wccmochas@yahoo.com and we will send you the invitation to our Members Only Yahoo Group. Our Chapter name is: Contra Costa County - West. Membership dues remain a very reasonable $40! Remember...membership has it's benefits.
We have a lot of exciting things in the works this year, and wanted to give you a sneak peek at what's in the works:
- Third Annual Black Marriage Day Dinner and Dance
- Monthly newsletter
- Expanding our community service efforts
- Fundraising
- Babysitting Co-Op
- Weekend Support Group
- Weekend Playgroup
- School-age Field Trips/Activities
- Meetings with subject matter that we as a group want to hear about, in the past this was called "Mocha Mondays"
Our calendar will continue to include:
- Community Service (for Moms AND we will have some Service Projects for children as well)
- Mom's Night Out (monthly) Will be held every 3rd Saturday Night
- Support Circle/Playgroup every other Friday morning
- Family Activities (Annual BBQ, Holiday Parties, Couples Night Out, etc.)
- Mocha Mani's Nite
- Annual Mother's Day Tea
- Annual End of Summer Spa Day
- Mocha Dad's Outings (with & without the kids)
- Mocha Dins and In a Pinch
2012 is a regional conference year, so please mark your calendars! Our regional conference will be held October 5-7, 2012 in Prescott, AZ. More information will be coming soon and We hope to see you there!

Remember Mocha Moms is an organization that Celebrates the Sisterhood of Motherhood! Just because you don't have a baby or a preschooler does not mean that Mocha Moms is not for you! As a Mother, we can all use the support of other Mothers! We can all learn from one another. We look forward to meeting you and your families soon!
